Quasi-single-chip technology

    The chief technologist of LumiEngin, who had worked in a well-known American LED company, developed the quasi-single-chip technology. Using special Surface-Roughing technology, the chips emit luminous flux more efficiently, which has the same optical characteristics as a single big chip. In addition, the technology has the following advantages compared to the single big chip: current spreading and flux emitting are more uniform, packaging thermal resistance is lower, and internal thermal stress is much smaller.

Quasi-single-chip technology produces real uniform surface emitting light source. The ultrahigh brightness modules can completely replace the arc lamps and halogen lamps, and thus offer various solutions in many domains, which cannot be realized with traditional LED modules.

Packaging Technology

    In high power LED applications, efficient thermal management is a key factor. Benefitting from utilization of nano materials, special packaging techniques, and unique processing, LumiEngin modules can reach ultra-low thermal resistance. This characteristic keeps the LED working under low junction temperature, even operating at ultrahigh current density. Therefore, it can be used in many lighting systems, achieving high brightness and longer lifetime. LumiEngin devices can operate at the ultrahigh currents like 3A/mm² with continuous wave mode, much higher than other companies like Osram or Luminus.

Reliability

    LumiEngin packaging design starts from the bottom layer. The products pass a series of harsh environmental and mechanical testing, including vibration and shock, high and low temperature storage, temperature cycling, MSL, aging testing, and so on. With low failure rate and 60,000+ hour lifetime, LumiEngin modules are one of the most reliable high power LED modules.
